LIVING BY FAITH
As a pastor now for the past decade and a half, I have learned much about life with God from my brothers and sisters in Christ at Our Saviour's. They have shown what living by faith looks like. And, in some cases, they have shown me how to die by faith.
As someone who has long loved history, I have also learned much from the communion of saints down through the ages about life with God.
God would tie and attach us to this one person, Christ. Apart from this person, born of Mary and having real flesh and blood, we are neither to seek nor find God. For we are to grasp and find God only through faith in the flesh and blood of Christ. (Martin Luther)
Not only do we know God by Jesus Christ alone, but we know ourselves only by Jesus Christ. We know life and death only through Jesus Christ. Apart from Jesus Christ, we do not know what is our life, nor our death, nor God, nor ourselves. (Blaise Pascal)
There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still. (Corrie Ten Boom)
It is God to whom and with whom we travel, and while He is the end of our journey, He is also at every stopping place. (Elizabeth Elliot)
