Don't

Despite what the song says, don't let your conscience be your guide.
We cannot trust our conscience. It is certainly not a fool-proof guide.
We also cannot trust our mind. Like our conscience, human reason has been corrupted by the original sin.
The same goes for our heart. Listen to what the prophet Jeremiah had to say: The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.
Our hearts, minds, and consciences are to be captive to the Word of God.
The Scriptures are our rule and guide in all matters of faith and life.
Don't let any philosopher or Ph.D. mislead you.
The same goes for popular opinion or political correctness (or incorrectness, as the case may be).
We find ourselves in a day and age that calls good "evil" and evil "good". (See Isaiah 5:20)
In this mean time that we find ourselves in, I find myself meditating frequently on a great proverb: Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord and shun evil.
This proverb is worth memorizing. More importantly, it is vital that we take it to heart and live by it.
