For Kathy and Jeff

I dedicate this post to Kathy Kohner. I have no doubt as to which of God's creatures, great or small, is her absolute favorite. She is a feline-lover, extraordinaire.

I also dedicate this post to Pastor Jeff Garrison. Jeff shepherds two congregations in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. He is an outdoor adventurer who has traveled the world. (I'm very curious to know what Jeff's favorite creature is.)

I would like to introduce you to Mr. Quacks.

There's a chance you might see him tomorrow.

Mr. and Mrs. Quacks are back at church right now. They have been coming to Our Saviour's in April for the past four or five years.

The love birds set up camp for a month or so, before leaving for destinations unknown.

Strangely, we've never seen so much as one duckling.

Speaking of which, I want to share with you this incredible story out of Bemidji. This short news video tells of a real-life Mother Goose and her many, many ducklings!

All Things Bright and Beautiful
by Cecil Frances Alexander

All things bright and beautiful,

All creatures great and small,

All things wise and wonderful,

The Lord God made them all. Each little flower that opens,

Each little bird that sings,

He made their glowing colors,

He made their tiny wings. The rich man in his castle,

The poor man at his gate,

God made them high and lowly,

And ordered their estate. The purple headed mountain,

The river running by,

The sunset and the morning,

That brightens up the sky;− The cold wind in the winter,

The pleasant summer sun,

The ripe fruits in the garden,

−He made them every one. The tall trees in the greenwood,

The meadows where we play,

The rushes by the water,

We gather every day;− He gave us eyes to see them,

And lips that we might tell

How great is God Almighty,

Who hath made all things well.

There is no question as to what is Leo's favorite creature is.

She goes by the name of Jenny.
