May wonder never cease

What causes you to lose sleep?
It might be chronic pain. It could be too much caffeine.
It might be stress from work, or financial problems.
It could be sadness or grief.
It might be something on the news that has you all riled up.
It could be worry over your children or grandchildren.
The list goes on and on.
But it isn't always troubles that keep us up. Sometimes, it's the good things of life.

Lately I've been thinking about the wonders of life with God. I've been thinking about the Wonder that is God. It’s even caused me to lose sleep.

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out!
Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor?
Who has ever given to God, that God should repay Him?
For from Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.

Who is like the LORD our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; He seats them with the princes of His people.
He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children.
Praise the Lord!

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!
You have set Your glory above the heavens.
From the lips of children and infants You have ordained praise because of Your enemies to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man, that you care for him?
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
You made him ruler over the works of Your hands; You put everything under his feet; all flocks and herds, and all the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the sea.
O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!

For, as I have often told you before, and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him - God has revealed it to us by His Spirit.

Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.

I call on You, O God, for You will answer me; give ear and hear my prayer.
Show me the wonders of Your great love.

I will exalt You, my God the King; I will praise Your name for ever and ever.
Every day I will praise You and extol Your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.
One generation will commend Your works to another; they will tell of Your mighty acts.
They will speak of the glorious splendor of Your majesty and I will meditate on Your wonderful works.
They will tell of the power of Your awesome works, and I will proclaim Your great deeds.
They will celebrate Your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of Your righteousness.
The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.
The LORD is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made.
All You have made will praise You, O LORD; Your saints will extol You.
They will tell of the glory of Your kingdom and speak of Your might so that all people may know of Your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures through all generations.
The LORD is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made.
The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food at the proper time.
You open Your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
The LORD is righteous in all His ways and loving toward all He has made.
The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them.
The LORD watches over all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.
My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD.
Let every creature praise His holy name for ever and ever.
Finally, here is a recording of a hauntingly beautiful song.
I think about this great ballad as we approach the wonder of the Advent season.
I love this hymn, and I love Audrey Assad's rendition.
But sadly, from what I've read, Audrey is no longer a Christian.
